Law enforcement support office logo

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office is one of over 13,000 law enforcement agencies taking advantage of this unique program with the Defense Logistics (DLA) and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). In contrast, the National Defense Authorization Act authorizes the Secretary of Defense to transfer excess Department of Defense (DoD) personal property to Federal, state, and local Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA), with particular emphasis given to hostage or other search and rescue missions, disaster-related emergencies, active shooter scenarios, or anti-terrorism preparedness, protection, prevention, response, recovery, or relief when acquiring specialized vehicles/equipment.

Currently, the Kendall County Sheriff's Office has acquired the following equipment:

3- Thermal Sight Night Vision Scopes

1- Mineā€Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP)

2- High Mobility Multipurpose Vehicle (HMMVEE)

2- Clearing Barel Pedestals

1- Life Fitness Flex Deck Treadmill (GYM)

3- Refrigerators

This program has profoundly and positively impacted our office and the community. It has strengthened our law enforcement capabilities, improved officer safety, facilitated cost savings of just under one million dollars, fostered positive community relations, and enhanced emergency preparedness. The program's contributions have enabled us to fulfill our mission of ensuring public safety, providing security, and cultivating a safer environment for all community members.
