Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Inspections

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office currently conducts, for a fee, motor vehicle VTR-68-A inspections for residents of Kendall County. These inspections are for registration purposes in the event a vehicle is in need of a bonded title, being imported into Texas from another state, Canada, Mexico, or abroad, or a vehicle's VIN, (vehicle identification number) is in question.

This is not a yearly safety inspection.

Residents in need of a VTR 68-A inspection can make an appointment by calling the main number of the Kendall County Sheriff's office, (830) 249-9721, to schedule an appointment. Appointments must be scheduled with the office at least 72 hours before the upcoming Thursday. The investigator conducting inspections will contact the applicant by phone no later than 48 hours before the scheduled date to confirm the appointment and ensure the applicant is in possession of the appropriate paperwork and is eligible for an inspection.

The hours of operation for inspections are on Thursdays only from 7:00 am to 11:00 am.
