The Criminal Investigation Division is commanded by a Lieutenant. In addition to a lieutenant, this division is staffed by a Sergeant along with six investigators, and one civilian evidence technician. The evidence technician is responsible for the evidence processing and storage facility, and the Sex Offender Registration Unit. Our personnel have received extensive investigative training in evidence collection, interview and interrogation, and crime scene processing.
The Primary responsibility of the Criminal investigations Division is to conduct follow-up investigations of reported crimes. The follow-up investigation consists of interviewing suspects, victims and witnesses- analyzing information for validity, reliability and accuracy- and compiling a factual case for presentation to the District Attorney's office for prosecution.
