UPDATE: Attempted Capital Murder of a Peace Officer
The Kendall County Sheriff's Office is providing an update regarding the deputy-involved shooting that occurred early Sunday morning (02-08-2026) at the Executive Inn Motel, located at 32 N. Highway 87 in Comfort, Texas.
At approximately 12:45 a.m., the Boerne Police Department Dispatch Center received a call reporting several males fighting with shots fired in the motel parking lot. Deputy A. Russell arrived on scene within minutes of the call.
Upon arrival, Deputy Russell was immediately fired upon by a subject later identified as Sean Seale of Comfort, Texas, in the parking lot. Deputy Russell returned fire, striking the suspect.
Additional Kendall County Deputies arrived on scene and immediately provided medical aid to the suspect once the scene was secured. Deputies from Kendall County, Kerr County, and Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to assist.
Kendall County EMS arrived shortly thereafter and continued medical treatment. The suspect was transported by medical helicopter to Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, where he remains in critical condition. Deputy Russell was not injured during the incident.
Pending charges against Sean Seale include:
- Two counts of Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon
- One count of Attempted Capital Murder of a Peace Officer
At the time of the incident, Mr. Seale was a fugitive from justice and had multiple outstanding warrants.
The incident remains under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and appropriate.
