SCAM ALERT: Gypsy Paver Scam in Our Area

05/23/2025

Gyspy Pavers

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office wants to alert the community about a paving scam that has been reported in nearby areas and may be targeting residents here.

These scammers often referred to as "gypsy pavers" typically show up unannounced, offering to pave driveways or perform other asphalt work at a "discounted" rate using "leftover materials." They may pressure you into quick decisions, do substandard work, and then demand more money than originally agreed upon.

Be on the lookout for:
Unmarked trucks or out-of-state license plates
High-pressure sales tactics
No written contracts or documentation
Requests for immediate payment, often in cash

What to do:

Don't agree to any work on the spot

Never pay upfront

Get multiple quotes from reputable local contractors

Report suspicious activity to the Sheriff's Office immediately

We're here to protect our community. If you or someone you know is approached by these individuals, call us at (830) 249-9721.
