What an incredible honor it was this afternoon for the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, alongside our partners at Boerne Police Department, Boerne Fire Department, and Kendall County EMS, to escort Mr. Pedro Vera, a 103-year-old WWII hero who bravely stormed the beaches of Normandy, to receive the prestigious French Legion of Honor.

 

From the moment we met Mr. Vera, his family, and his comrades, it was clear we were in the presence of greatness. The stories, the smiles, the pride, and the patriotism all wrapped into one unforgettable and emotional day.

 

It was truly a blessing to be part of such a special moment, honoring a man whose courage and sacrifice helped shape the world we live in today.
