Scam Alert Sign

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office would like to inform the citizens of Kendall County of an ongoing scam occurring in our county.

A group of paving and driveway improvement contractors that travel around may show up in the area and will contact homeowners telling them they have extra paving materials left from a previous job (Real Contractors typically don’t do this). They then offer their services at a much reduced price. When the work is completed they approach the homeowner stating that problems occurred during the paving process and the “new” price is substantially higher.

This group has several large trucks and heavy equipment with signage that makes them seem like a legitimate company. Please be vigilant with these types of contractors when a business pitch is made to a citizen by them. Especially, contractors from out of town or out of State. It is always good practice to look at license plates on the vehicles, and ask for referrals from prior customers, particularly if the contractor purports him/herself as working for the county and does not have a Kendall County Road & Bridge uniform on.

Do not hesitate to call law enforcement.
