After completing his first career in residential construction, at the age of 35, Roy began his profession in law enforcement. A Law enforcement career was always a dream of his and in August of 1994, Roy joined the Fair Oaks Ranch Police Department where he was assigned to patrol. In January of 1997, Roy began working for Kendall County Sheriff's Office. During his tenure here, he has proudly served under 3 Sheriffs. Roy worked as a Deputy on patrol, was promoted to a patrol supervisor, and later assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division where he is now an Investigator. Roy also started and built the VIN Verification program in 2010. He saw a need for the program and became certified so he could further serve the community as well as surrounding counties. Roy chose to work for Kendall County because after moving here in 1989, he fell in love with small-town life. During his time in construction, he was able to get to know many people in the community and loved the small-town ambiance. Roy loves the people in the community which led him to want to serve when he was looking for his second career. Roy likes how he has been able to have a personal interface with people in the community on a daily basis, where he may have not been able to do in a larger department.

 

When asked what his greatest accomplishment was, he stated that he hoped he has set a good example to live a good life. But also hopes his passion to support and help the community in their time of need has been beneficial to his career. Roy said he wants to keep working as long as he physically can and family life will allow. Roy says he starts every workday off with a Mountain Dew at 530 in the morning and that's what keeps him going. Roy said every day at work is fun, it's always a new adventure.
